Community Information Meeting Update
Our community information meeting brought out many of our neighbors and friends on Wednesday evening, October 24, to learn about the library’s proposed building project and bond referendum vote.
Library Project Update – October 11, 2018
The Bayport-Blue Point Library Board is moving ahead with a proposed bond vote on December 6, 2018 to renovate the former St. Ursuline Center for a new library.
Library Update – September 2018
In our previous report on the update on the St. Ursula property, we informed the community that the Library Board was in negotiations to try to come to terms on an acquisition price for the St. Ursula property. At this time, we would like to report that we do finally have terms agreed upon for $3,650,000 and will be moving forward with a Public Referendum Vote asking for your approval to acquire and renovate this property into your new and improved community library facility.
Library Update – August 2018
In our previous report on the update on the St. Ursula Property, we informed the community that the SEQRA report was finalized and an appraisal was completed for the Library. As this newsletter goes to print, the board continues negotiations with the sellers working to pursue a suitable price for the property.
Update on Library Project(s)
Since our last update, the Library Board authorized a property appraisal of the St. Ursula Property as well as for the current library location. The Board also authorized the hiring of a company to perform an environmental review of the St. Ursula Property, known as SEQRA, for public municipalities.

As of January 30, the Library learned that the contract to sell the St. Ursula Center to Seafield Treatment Center has been terminated which means that this facility is back on the open market.

At the January 10 Board of Trustee’s meeting, BBS, the libraries’ architects, released their final report to the library board. As a reminder, BBS was charged with exploring and comparing our current library with the potential of the St. Ursula Center being made into a library.
