Dear Bayport-Blue Point Library Residents
At this time we believe that the St. Ursula Center entered into a contract of sale with Seafield Treatment Center. As many of you already knew, we were in the process of evaluating that property as a potential library location while studying expansion and renovation options for our current facility.The Library Board is continuing to gather information on possible expansion or relocation.
We will continue to keep you informed as we have more information to share in the New Year.

Dear Bayport-Blue Point Library Residents
The Library Board has been doing its due diligence with regard to the exploration of the St. Ursula Center as a proposed library site while at the same time evaluating our current facility.
At the September Board Meeting the Board approved the hiring of Strategic Planning Systems to conduct an independent survey regarding the community’s mindset on the library.
As previously stated, exploration is a lengthy process and the Board is a long way from determining the practicality of a proposal for either site. We are working judiciously to gather the facts needed to make informed decisions.

July 2017 Update
Dear Bayport-Blue Point Library Residents,
The Board of Trustees would like to update our patrons with regard to the potential of the library moving to the St. Ursula Convent. We are a long way from determining if this makes sense for the library and subsequently asking for the community’s support to do so.
At this time Suffolk County Legislators Rob Calarco and Bill Lindsay III have introduced legislation in the Suffolk County Legislature to have an appraisal completed on the property. They have been working with Brookhaven Town Councilman Neil Foley on designating some of the property for recreational purposes and a portion as open space for the Town of Brookhaven. The Library Board, in an effort to be responsive to these actions and to answer many issues that would arise for the library, has voted to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to determine the feasibility and cost of renovating the convent.
As stated previously, there are many issues surrounding the practicality of relocating the library to the convent site. The Library Board is approaching the myriad issues cautiously in an effort to make judicious, well-informed decisions. We will continue to keep you informed as we move along in this process.
