July 2020 Update

We’re pleased to report that exciting progress is being made on the construction of the new Bayport-Blue Point Public Library on the site of the former convent of the Sisters of Saint Ursula at 186 Middle Road in Blue Point.

Library Staged Reopening Procedure and Time Line

The Bayport-Blue Point Public Library assumes the obligation to provide staff and patrons a safe environment. On Sunday March 15th the library closed its doors in the interest of public health when the Covid-19 pandemic began. Several months have passed and we are now prepared to enter into a new era of library operations and post-pandemic.

April 2020 Update

We’re delighted to report that construction has begun on the new Bayport-Blue Point Public Library on the site of the former St. Ursula Center. The new Library is expected to be ready to open in about 15 months, which gives us an optimistic moving-in date in the spring or early summer of next year.

October 2019 Update

We’re pleased to report that the Library Board has taken several positive steps over the past few months toward converting the former St. Ursuline Center into the new Bayport-Blue Point Library.

Property Purchase Complete

On February 11, 2019 the sale of St. Ursuline convent was completed and the library took ownership of the property at 186 Middle Road; the location of your new library. This is the first step of a multi-step process!
