Egg Hatching at the Library!

Our Children’s Department will be incubating and hatching eggs provided by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County from May 21st through June 10th. During this time we will have a special display of fiction and non-fiction books on the subject of chickens for parents and their children to enjoy. Keep up to date on hatching news by following our blog posts and watch the baby chicks hatch via web cam on our library’s webpage. Be sure to stop by the children’s department to see the eggs and chicks before they fly the coop.
Parenting Program: Infant and Child CPR & Choking

Registration is in person only at the Children’s Reference Desk.
Lori Green, a certified CPR instructor, registered nurse and EMT, will provide this 3 hour workshop that teaches how to successfully perform Infant and Child CPR, and other life saving skills. American Red Cross certification is received upon completion of this workshop. BPJ907

In addition to touring extensively in the U.S. and Canada, the Gizmo Guys have strutted their stuff in places as diverse as Saudi Arabia and Japan and have taught juggling at the renowned French and Canadian National Circus Schools. Summer Reading Club: Dig Into Reading

The public library cares about your children and has planned programs to keep them reading and learning all summer. This summer’s reading club theme, “Dig Into Reading!” will explore the wonders of the “underground”. We often overlook what’s right beneath our feet. This summer join us as we explore our natural resources, fossils, the wonders of caves and subterranean animals. So dig in and uncover some great books and fun programs at the library this summer. Registration for the summer reading club begins on Monday, June 24th, following our kickoff celebration, “Pirate School” with David Engle.
